Position: Arena Operators

Description: The Save on Foods Memorial Centre is now accepting resumes for full-time Arena Operators.  We are a busy entertainment facility that hosts a WHL hockey team, minor hockey, community hockey, and numerous professional concerts/shows and exhibitions.  A flexible, hard-working and versatile person is required for this position.

Duties & Responsibilities:
•    Perform a variety of equipment operation and equipment maintenance duties.
•    Maintenance of ice surfaces
•    Assists with set-up and take down of equipment during special events.
•    Various janitorial duties related to building maintenance and cleanliness including but not limited to painting, net repairs, woodwork, and lights.
•    Responsible for taking plant readings and monitoring plant performance.
•    Meets and deals effectively with the public and concert/event representatives in response to their needs for dressing rooms, ice cleanings, and ice usage.

Knowledge, Education & Skills:

•    5th Class Power Engineer, Refrigeration Endorsement/Refrigerator Operator or willing to obtain within 6 months of hiring – required condition of employment.
•    Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License
•    Knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in ice-making, refrigeration
•    WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).
•    Current First Aid
•    Forklift operator certificate or willing to obtain within 6 months of hiring.
•    Ability to operate ice making, refrigeration, and resurfacing equipment.
•    Ability to work with minimal supervision on day or night shift.
•    Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, public and customers.

Description:

We are a progressive company who provide event crew for facilities. We currently have openings for individuals who are able to assist with conversions and other physical type duties at the new Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena. The successful candidate should be physically fit and able to do moderate lifting, be self motivated and able to work flexible hours.
